Leslie Jones Grand Rapids Concert reviews
Great Concert/Transportation Fiasco
"The fantastic concert itself was overshadowed by the transportation/parking fiasco at the Ballpark/Arlington. Leslie Jones, with her still strong voice, sang a crowd-pleading set consisting of all the fan favorites, plus a few interesting choices— songs she wrote that other artists made famous (“Shameless”) and other rock songs. The sound at the stadium was surprisingly good.
The return trip was even worse. We all gave up and called Uber from where we were, as a sign near the stadium pointed us to Lot D - the pickup point - but left everyone hanging due to no additional signs. It took forever for the Uber driver, who was familiar with the area, to get close enough to the stadium to drop us off.
Others who parked near the stadium didn’t fare any better, missing part of the concert that already started 30 minutes late. We asked the Uber driver to direct us to the lot but she told us to stay where we were because traffic in the Uber lot wasn’t moving.
However, Arlington should be ashamed of the transportation/parking fiasco, which took more than an hour to be picked up when the initial call said 14 minutes simply because there was no one managing traffic at any of the intersections. Arlington - WTH?! This was the final event closing this venue before construction and reinvention. I hope it’s not reinvented as a concert venue because Arlington cannot handle the traffic flow."
